Week 14

The photo is one of famous Chinese star anchor Bi Fujian. But now he has been taken off air after a video emerged of him criticising Mao Zedong, the founder of modern China. He was filmed singing a parody song in which he said Chinese people had suffered under Mao's leadership. CCTV said Mr Bi's comments had had a " serious social impact", but many in China have defended him.
But I don't think he should be criticised like this because everyone of us has the freedom to speak out our opinions. And the video was filmed at a private banquet. I think the person who took this video is the one should be criticised, rather than Mr Bi. The person even don't know how to respect others. And another thing is the speech freedom, we are encourage to wield our speech right, but at the same time there always happened this kind of thing. That was a sign of the lack of free speech in China.

This photo is one of the post from Yemenis online movement. The campaign began in late March as a Saudi-led coalition launched its airstrikes against Houthi rebel targets in Yemen, and since then the phrase has been used by people sharing news reports, pictures and videos of the devastation of war, and photo of children sheltering from the fighting.
When I saw this news, I felt that freedom of speech is not just for some certain people, we all need the freedom of speech. We all care about others and the world so that we are trying to apply our rights.

Week 13

A new project named "Our Hawker Centres - A Heritage &  Art Project" aims to bring Singapore's hawker heritage, food and art together. The project will spruce up 40 hawker centres island-wide with murals and art installations. More than 70 schools, organisations and artists will be creating the artwork.
I think this is a very meaningful project as the hawker centre is known for local delights that many of Singaporeans and people who came and travel Singapore have enjoyed. It could bring back the past about this market and encourage people to preserve the heritage of the hawker centres.

This is a 20-year-old Korean girl's photo, she is Bae Dal-mi. This young girl never used make-up removers for the last two years, so after a specialized check-up they found her skin was two times older than her actual age. She said that because she wanted to look perfect at all time so that she even slept with the make-up on.
In my point of view these are all because of an obsession with beauty. We all should accept ourselves first, looks is one part of human beings, but the most important thing is a beauty heart.

Week 9

A police report has been filed against a video that a 17-year-old Amos Yee has put up on YouTube, Yahoo Singapore has learned. The report was filed by student Yuen Wei Ping. In his statement, he stated that Amos' video "made insensitive comments against the late Mr Lee. In the eight-minute long video titled "Lee Kuan Yew Is Finally Dead!", Amos says that the late "Lee Kuan Yew is a horrible person because everyone is afraid that if they say something like that, they might get into trouble."
I think it's very rude and discourteous to put such a video in public. I believe all of the Singapore should grateful for the effort that his has done for his nation. Although we are not familiar with him as close as we know our families, but we should still  respect him.

Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister of Singapore was passed away on 23 March 2015. Thousands of people lined the street on 29 Mar for the State Funeral of Mr Lee. And many artists have done some graphics of Lee Kuan Yew in order to remember him. These are the most popular two graphics that I found. I think they can let people to convince of the sad emotion. They are strong enough to encourage people to respect the great man and remember what has he done for this beautiful nation.

Week 7

This news reported that Hundreds of Afghans protested in Kabul on Monday to demand justice for a woman who was killed by a mob outside one of the capital's most famous mosques, after falsely being accused of burning a Koran.
In my point of view, nowadays, women are playing a more and more important roles in society. But there aren't many rules and laws formulated for women's safety and freedom, especially in some developing countries. I think it is necessary to spread public awareness, ensure proper execution of law, constructive role of media, active participation of civil society and gender budgeting to tackle all those problems.

"There's no force on Earth strong enough to take away the pain of losing a close family member or friend," said state education minister Sylvia Loehrmann after paying an early-morning visit.
Just happened on Tuesday (Mar 24), a plane operated by the budget carrier of German's Lufthansa crashed in a remote area of the French Alps, killing all 150 on board in France's worst aviation disaster in decades. And the most disappointed thing is there were 16 students died in the plane. The students and their two female teachers had been on a week-long exchange trip near Barcelna, paying a reciprocal visit after Spanish youngsters came in December to the northwestern town of Haltern.
"Yesterday we were many, today we are alone" as a hand-painted sign at the school wrote. Don't regret after we lost all the things. Let's cherish what we have now so that we wouldn't regret after something changed.

Week 8

This photo is from a Instagram account named Girl Eat World. Its owner, who goes by the name of Melissa, dectibes herself as a regular girl who lives by the motto, "food is the reason you should travel". Like its name suggests, Melissa's Instagram account is filled with food photos that she takes on her travels. All the photos are taken in the same way: each shot is perfectly composed with Melissa's left hand (usually) holding a food item, with her surrounding serving as a backdrop.
I like this kind of travel journal. Everyone of us could has different hobby, there is no standard about judge the hobbies. And I feel that each one of us should have a hobby and follow our passion. Maybe our hobbies are very normal but carry on following our heart, that will makes our life more colourful.

This is only one of a series photographs took by a Singapore designer. She uses a needle and thread to stitch beautiful memories from her world travels. Her work has been showcased in fashion shows in Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
I like her works. They are very creative. It looks more interesting compare with those digital albums. It inspired me to think that what could I do to make my journey more memorable, rather than to follow others take visit pictures and go.

Week 6

This film called " Somewhere Only We Know", is a new Chinese film directed by Xu Jinglei who is a famous Chinese director and blogger. It was screened on Valentines' day 2015. The story is about a young Chinese girl who comes to study in Prague after her grandmother died, she find her grandmother lived there in the past. She decides to trace her grandmother's path, discovering a new sense of self in the process as well as love in a beautiful man.
I really enjoy this film. I felt very warm and calm after I watched this film. Here is a lot happening in the plot, but each person is able to grow with the characters and come to understand them better. It's good that we all have memories and it's bad that we couldn't forget memories. But anyway, we are all walking ahead in our life, time wouldn't stop no matter what happen. Keeping walking, we will find more fantastic things to enrich our life.
This new was posted on 13 April. It talks about more than 50 UK university leaders will travel to Brussels on Monday to lobby European policymaker against possible cuts to research funding. The EU is considering plans to divert some research money to a more broadly based strategic investment fund. Universities across Europe say this would harm research and innovation. The Europe Commission argues that the transfer will widen the range of institutions and businesses which can benefit from the money and boost entrepreneurship, jobs and growth. It describes EFSI as "a major step toward job creation and growth in the European economy".
As a ordinary people, I don't know much about government issues. But what I know is, it is hard to balance the economy, education and many other issues for society. But it do necessary to development our lives, not only for the government, but also for ourselves. We need cherish what we have now.

Week 12

This news reported that staff at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission were in favor of suing Google Inc for violating antitrust rules before the agency settled its investigation in 2013.
The report by the staff of the FTC'S competition bureau argued that the owner of the world's No.1 Internet search engine illegally took information from rival websites to improve its own search results and placed restrictions on websites and advertisers.
As the development of technology, what shall we do to keep the safety and well-organized of Internet ? It is necessary that to formulate some Internet rules. And the company should  observe the rules. To keep safe of Internet market is not just one person's duty.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who was Singapore's first Prime Minister when the country gained independence in 1965, has died on Monday (Mar 23) at the age of 91. There are many people spontaneou mourning the death of him.
As a foreigner, although I don't really know much about this country, but I do know that Mr Lee Kuan Yew has done many things for his country. Not only the economic development, but also the Singapore's  international relations. And I know that he was the creator and founder of China-Singapore bilateral relations and promoted the long-term mutually beneficial cooperation for the two countries. Therefor, many Chinese could came Singapore and develop their careers even businesses.
