Week 14

The photo is one of famous Chinese star anchor Bi Fujian. But now he has been taken off air after a video emerged of him criticising Mao Zedong, the founder of modern China. He was filmed singing a parody song in which he said Chinese people had suffered under Mao's leadership. CCTV said Mr Bi's comments had had a " serious social impact", but many in China have defended him.
But I don't think he should be criticised like this because everyone of us has the freedom to speak out our opinions. And the video was filmed at a private banquet. I think the person who took this video is the one should be criticised, rather than Mr Bi. The person even don't know how to respect others. And another thing is the speech freedom, we are encourage to wield our speech right, but at the same time there always happened this kind of thing. That was a sign of the lack of free speech in China.

This photo is one of the post from Yemenis online movement. The campaign began in late March as a Saudi-led coalition launched its airstrikes against Houthi rebel targets in Yemen, and since then the phrase has been used by people sharing news reports, pictures and videos of the devastation of war, and photo of children sheltering from the fighting.
When I saw this news, I felt that freedom of speech is not just for some certain people, we all need the freedom of speech. We all care about others and the world so that we are trying to apply our rights.

Week 13

A new project named "Our Hawker Centres - A Heritage &  Art Project" aims to bring Singapore's hawker heritage, food and art together. The project will spruce up 40 hawker centres island-wide with murals and art installations. More than 70 schools, organisations and artists will be creating the artwork.
I think this is a very meaningful project as the hawker centre is known for local delights that many of Singaporeans and people who came and travel Singapore have enjoyed. It could bring back the past about this market and encourage people to preserve the heritage of the hawker centres.

This is a 20-year-old Korean girl's photo, she is Bae Dal-mi. This young girl never used make-up removers for the last two years, so after a specialized check-up they found her skin was two times older than her actual age. She said that because she wanted to look perfect at all time so that she even slept with the make-up on.
In my point of view these are all because of an obsession with beauty. We all should accept ourselves first, looks is one part of human beings, but the most important thing is a beauty heart.

Week 9

A police report has been filed against a video that a 17-year-old Amos Yee has put up on YouTube, Yahoo Singapore has learned. The report was filed by student Yuen Wei Ping. In his statement, he stated that Amos' video "made insensitive comments against the late Mr Lee. In the eight-minute long video titled "Lee Kuan Yew Is Finally Dead!", Amos says that the late "Lee Kuan Yew is a horrible person because everyone is afraid that if they say something like that, they might get into trouble."
I think it's very rude and discourteous to put such a video in public. I believe all of the Singapore should grateful for the effort that his has done for his nation. Although we are not familiar with him as close as we know our families, but we should still  respect him.

Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister of Singapore was passed away on 23 March 2015. Thousands of people lined the street on 29 Mar for the State Funeral of Mr Lee. And many artists have done some graphics of Lee Kuan Yew in order to remember him. These are the most popular two graphics that I found. I think they can let people to convince of the sad emotion. They are strong enough to encourage people to respect the great man and remember what has he done for this beautiful nation.

Week 7

This news reported that Hundreds of Afghans protested in Kabul on Monday to demand justice for a woman who was killed by a mob outside one of the capital's most famous mosques, after falsely being accused of burning a Koran.
In my point of view, nowadays, women are playing a more and more important roles in society. But there aren't many rules and laws formulated for women's safety and freedom, especially in some developing countries. I think it is necessary to spread public awareness, ensure proper execution of law, constructive role of media, active participation of civil society and gender budgeting to tackle all those problems.

"There's no force on Earth strong enough to take away the pain of losing a close family member or friend," said state education minister Sylvia Loehrmann after paying an early-morning visit.
Just happened on Tuesday (Mar 24), a plane operated by the budget carrier of German's Lufthansa crashed in a remote area of the French Alps, killing all 150 on board in France's worst aviation disaster in decades. And the most disappointed thing is there were 16 students died in the plane. The students and their two female teachers had been on a week-long exchange trip near Barcelna, paying a reciprocal visit after Spanish youngsters came in December to the northwestern town of Haltern.
"Yesterday we were many, today we are alone" as a hand-painted sign at the school wrote. Don't regret after we lost all the things. Let's cherish what we have now so that we wouldn't regret after something changed.

Week 8

This photo is from a Instagram account named Girl Eat World. Its owner, who goes by the name of Melissa, dectibes herself as a regular girl who lives by the motto, "food is the reason you should travel". Like its name suggests, Melissa's Instagram account is filled with food photos that she takes on her travels. All the photos are taken in the same way: each shot is perfectly composed with Melissa's left hand (usually) holding a food item, with her surrounding serving as a backdrop.
I like this kind of travel journal. Everyone of us could has different hobby, there is no standard about judge the hobbies. And I feel that each one of us should have a hobby and follow our passion. Maybe our hobbies are very normal but carry on following our heart, that will makes our life more colourful.

This is only one of a series photographs took by a Singapore designer. She uses a needle and thread to stitch beautiful memories from her world travels. Her work has been showcased in fashion shows in Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
I like her works. They are very creative. It looks more interesting compare with those digital albums. It inspired me to think that what could I do to make my journey more memorable, rather than to follow others take visit pictures and go.

Week 6

This film called " Somewhere Only We Know", is a new Chinese film directed by Xu Jinglei who is a famous Chinese director and blogger. It was screened on Valentines' day 2015. The story is about a young Chinese girl who comes to study in Prague after her grandmother died, she find her grandmother lived there in the past. She decides to trace her grandmother's path, discovering a new sense of self in the process as well as love in a beautiful man.
I really enjoy this film. I felt very warm and calm after I watched this film. Here is a lot happening in the plot, but each person is able to grow with the characters and come to understand them better. It's good that we all have memories and it's bad that we couldn't forget memories. But anyway, we are all walking ahead in our life, time wouldn't stop no matter what happen. Keeping walking, we will find more fantastic things to enrich our life.
This new was posted on 13 April. It talks about more than 50 UK university leaders will travel to Brussels on Monday to lobby European policymaker against possible cuts to research funding. The EU is considering plans to divert some research money to a more broadly based strategic investment fund. Universities across Europe say this would harm research and innovation. The Europe Commission argues that the transfer will widen the range of institutions and businesses which can benefit from the money and boost entrepreneurship, jobs and growth. It describes EFSI as "a major step toward job creation and growth in the European economy".
As a ordinary people, I don't know much about government issues. But what I know is, it is hard to balance the economy, education and many other issues for society. But it do necessary to development our lives, not only for the government, but also for ourselves. We need cherish what we have now.

Week 12

This news reported that staff at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission were in favor of suing Google Inc for violating antitrust rules before the agency settled its investigation in 2013.
The report by the staff of the FTC'S competition bureau argued that the owner of the world's No.1 Internet search engine illegally took information from rival websites to improve its own search results and placed restrictions on websites and advertisers.
As the development of technology, what shall we do to keep the safety and well-organized of Internet ? It is necessary that to formulate some Internet rules. And the company should  observe the rules. To keep safe of Internet market is not just one person's duty.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who was Singapore's first Prime Minister when the country gained independence in 1965, has died on Monday (Mar 23) at the age of 91. There are many people spontaneou mourning the death of him.
As a foreigner, although I don't really know much about this country, but I do know that Mr Lee Kuan Yew has done many things for his country. Not only the economic development, but also the Singapore's  international relations. And I know that he was the creator and founder of China-Singapore bilateral relations and promoted the long-term mutually beneficial cooperation for the two countries. Therefor, many Chinese could came Singapore and develop their careers even businesses.

Week 5

Kim Jong Un visits military unit with his sister.
The Democratic People's of Republic of Korea's state-run television station KRT has released photographs of the leader Kim Jong Un inspecting a military unit with his sister Kim Yo Jong.
Kim is shown looked around facilities on the front line of the DPRK's East Coast defenses accompanied by Kim Yo Jong. She is the vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kim Yo Jong is the only ither member of the ruling Kim family known to have an official job within the government. KRT did not specify the date of the inspection. More effect needed to promote rule of law. Reports by China's Chief Justice and top prosecutor have generated heated discussions among CPPCC members. China's political advisors have been calling for more efforts to advance the rule of law.
The two reports sparked lively discussion among political advisors. With years of experience in a local court, CPPCC member Qin Boyong applauded the court's efforts to build a transparent judicial syster. She was impressed with a particular set of numbers.
And I think the government's sweeping anti-graft campaign, which has taken down over 4,000 corrupt officials at various levels. The international manhunt also reined in many who attempted to escape justice. They hope the rule of law will be furthered strengthened with more anti-graft campaigns.

Reported by Channel NewsAsia on 12 Apr 2015. There was a walk in the park for dog-lovers and their furry pooches on 12 Apr at the first Woof-a-thon organised by the Singapore Heart Foundation. The chairman of the Singapore Heart Foundation said "It turns out there's a fair bit of evidence that owning a pet is protective against heart disease, lowers your risk of getting heart disease and possibly your chance of surviving a heart attack."
I'm very glad when I saw this news. Nowadays, more and more people realised that pets good for human beings. They are not only a animal, rather than a best friend. We fed them everyday and at the same time they will make good impact on our life.

Week 11

The World Health Organization has approved the first rapid test of Ebola. The test is regarded as a potential breakthrough for ending the epidemic in West Africa, where the virus has killed almost 10,000 people. The World Health Organization says the test is able to correctly identify about 92% of Ebola infected patients and 85% of those not infected with the virus.
In my view, I believe it is slightly less accurate than the standard test but easier to perform. It doesn't require electricity, and can provide results within 15 minutes, a much shorter turnaround time compared to the 12 to 24 hours of the standard test.
Wanda which is a Chinese conglomerate and China's biggest private property developer. It's chairman, Wang Jianlin, is known to be a dit-hard football fan. And this looks to be kicking off more sports and entertainment deals for the company. In addition to this 1.2 billion US dollar deal for Infront Sports, just last month, Dalian Wanda also announced a 51 million US dollar investment in Spanish soccer champions Atletico Madrid. On the entertainment front, Wanda purchased AMC Entertainment, the owner of a large chain of US movie theaters, for 2.6 billion dollars in 2012.
From my perspective, I think its move to branch away from the property business and diversify its holdings also comes as the Chinese economy begins to slow, and real estate prices slump in many cities across the country.

Week 2

This news reported by BBC, they say Facebook has begun placing warming over videos posted to its site, stating their contents might "shock, offed and upset" if viewed.
It's a good change to manage the society Network. I believe it could bring some good effect for our ilife.

This picture took at Xiamen which is the capital of south-eastern China’s Fujian Province. As we can see, the men and women in suits are kneel on a bridge. The reason why they are doing this is because they of missing their targets, so that they were forced to kneel on a bridge and chant how sorry they were.
Internet users were unanimous in saying they would refuse to work for a firm that demanded such embarrassing apologize and many of them wanted to try and find out the name of the company in order to name and shame them for such bad treatment of staff.
I was also shocked by this news. In my point of view, that isn't a proper way to punish the staff who has missed their targets. As long as the companies want to be expanded, the staffs have to be treated well, with dignity.

Week 10

House for sale in Indonesia -- with free wife

An advert for a house in Indonesia has proposed to buyer a " rare offer" -- When you buy this house, you can ask the owner to marry you. This news of the offer quickly spread among Internet users in social media-crazy Indonesia. There are many different comments. One online user said that the lady was "quite smart"-- even though the house will be sold, she will remain the owner. But when the police came to verify the news as they consider it as an improper advertisement. But the the lady explained to them that it was not her idea.
The truth the owner said she only originally intended the estate agent to tell friends that she was looking for a buyer, and also a husband, but didn't expect him to advertise the fact.
Who should be responsible for this case? In my opinion is the estate agent. They shouldn't advertise this thing without inform the house owner.

This news report that Facebook has now released a " Work From Home Program" that will allow people to work from the comfort of their own homes. This means that they will soon have a chance to make thousands of dollars every month, from the comforts of their own home, getting paid by checks, direct deposit and even Paypal. And there are no special skills required other than knowing how to use a computer and navigate the Internet.
It is very simple to apply a job working from home with Facebook. Only 3 steps. Step 1: Get Product 1 kit. Step 2: Follow the directions on your package and set up a account. Step 3: You should receive checks weekly.
There are many people have tried this program, it has been proved work very well.
Is this really a good thing? I'm not sure. Maybe time could testify all for us.

Week 3

Malaysia has stopped the import of two brands of apples from California because of fears that they could be tainted with the Listeriosis bacteria.
Those apples look so nice, should be delicious, but the fact is they are poison apple. Nowadays, more and more people are caring about the foods safety. How to live health is not just our own thing, the government, the society and even the country have the responsibility for this.

More then 20 people were killed on Wednesday ( Feb 4) when a turboprop passenger plane operated by TransAsia Airways clipped a road bridge and plunged into a river in Taiwan, in the airline's second crash in just seven months.
Rescue officials said that 15 survivors had been pulled out of the wreckage, but that 21 people were believed dead and 22 were still missing. Those missing are thought to be trapped inside the submerged front section of the plane. Many of those on board were Chinese tourists.
After research, I found 9 air accidents has took place from 2014 until now. It's really very sad. I can't imagine how was the families who lost families in air accidents. It's a tragedy for both society and families.
And it makes me thinking that is the development of technology a good thing for human being? That's true that it makes our live more convenient, but at the same time, it also bring out many problems even many sufferings.  Shall we stop the development of technology? How should we treat the technology?
We really still have many things to do for the safety and convent of our society.

McDonald's Corp is cutting the amount of calories and salt on its Indian menu as it fights to hold on to customers in a rapidly growing developing market where newer, healthier fast-food options are just starting to catch on.
As more and more people have paid more and more attentions on the foods' safety today, the market also has sense this trend. We could see that more and more restaurants and foods companies have changing their menus and even recipes.
Living healthy, eating healthy are not just a propaganda that used for companies to promoted their products. It's should be a life style.

Week 4

This news is from Yahoo newsroom. The news reported that Frozen yogurt chain Llaollao has apologized to Singapore local Punjabi woman who was reportedly returned away from a part-time position at an outlet because she could not speak Mandarin.

Compare with other headline news, this is just a small case.  Imagine this case happens at dozens years ago, will it still be known? Probably is not. With the development of mass media, the platforms are becoming bigger and more freedom for all of us to speak out our minds, to let others know our thoughts, even though we are only residents.

Mass media is the one that works for the public, so as a media person, we should know how to use our rights to help societies become better and better.
This little boy who is Alex Nash was asked to pay up after he failed to show up to the party at a ski slope and snowboard centre in Plymouth, Cornwall.
A child has been asked for almost £16, for not turning up to his classmate’s birthday bash.

Alex Nash was asked to pay up after he failed to show up to the party at a ski slope and snowboard centre in Plymouth, Cornwall.

A birthday party is a time to getting together and celebrate. Is it necessary to be so serious? Although it's true that everyone of us should keep our words and be trustworthy, but that depends at the situations.

Week 1

15 days after AirAsia QZ8501 air crash happened. Indonesian authorities confirm that the black box of AirAsia QZ8501 has been located.

As we can see from this photo, all the people on board are cheering. Human natures are the most important thing when we sucked in disasters.

This photo was take by Vadim Trunov who is a radio engineer from Russia. He described that he found this squirrel in the forest and he fed him. At first the little squirrel quickly hid into snow after he ate the nuts. But Vadim Trunov continue commenting with him. In the end the little squirrel trust him and come out to play with the small snowman which made by Vadim Trunov.

I always believe that animals also have their emotion, feeling even moons. Nowadays we always say animals are not as cute as before, but we seldom to ask ourselves why animals became keeping distance with us now? Is it because of the animals themselves? Do we have responsibility for them?

I believe they will trust us if we could become friendly with them all the way. Animals are our friends, we have the responsibility to protect them.
